How to Change Your Free Fire Name (with Symbols) — Steps, Card, Limits

How to change your Free Fire name: open profile, tap edit, paste and pay

To change your name in Free Fire, open your profile, tap the edit (pencil) icon next to your nickname, paste the new name and confirm with a Name Change Card or 390 diamonds. The steps below follow Free Fire OB55, the version released on 16 September 2026.

Tip: type your real name, e.g. "Bao Nam", "ProZ" or "Shadow".

Steps to change your Free Fire name

A rename takes about a minute once you have the name ready and a Name Change Card or enough diamonds in your account.

  1. Copy your new name. Use a name from this site or the generator above. Keep it within 12 characters.
  2. Open Free Fire and wait for the lobby to load.
  3. Tap your avatar in the top-left corner to open your profile.
  4. Tap the edit (pencil) icon next to your current nickname.
  5. Long-press the text box and paste the new name. Check the preview: a character the game does not accept is usually flagged here.
  6. Confirm with a Name Change Card if you have one, or with diamonds. Your new name shows on your profile straight away.

What a rename costs

A Free Fire rename costs 390 diamonds, or one Name Change Card. The card is the cheaper route: it can be bought in the Guild store with guild tokens plus a small diamond fee, or earned in some events. Prices below are the ones widely reported for 2026; check your own store before you pay.

Free Fire name change cost with 390 diamonds or a Name Change Card
Option Cost Where to get it
Direct rename 390 diamonds (verify) Rename screen in your profile
Name Change Card — Guild store 39 diamonds + guild tokens (200 or 250 reported — verify) Guild store, while you are in a guild
Name Change Card — events Free while the event runs Limited-time events and event exchanges

Change your name without diamonds

You cannot rename for zero cost unless you already hold a Name Change Card. The two ways to get one without a full diamond payment are the Guild store, where guild tokens cover most of the price, and limited-time events that hand out a card as a reward. Join an active guild, collect tokens from guild tasks, and check the event tab after every update.

Name rules the game checks

Free Fire checks length, characters and uniqueness before it accepts a name. This table lists what is known and how sure we are.

Rule What applies Status
Length Up to 12 characters; each styled letter or symbol counts as one Reported by players — verify in your rename screen
Unique name Two players cannot use exactly the same name Game message: name already taken
Blank-looking name The no-break space U+00A0 is accepted Works on current versions
Hangul filler U+3164 Rejected Blocked since update OB43
Offensive words Blocked by the game’s word filter Game filter

Many older guides still tell you to use U+3164 for an invisible name. That stopped working in OB43; use U+00A0 instead.

Common errors and fixes

Most failed renames come from four causes, and each has a quick fix.

Free Fire name rejected errors: already taken, invalid character, too long, blank name
  • Name already taken — add one symbol or swap a letter for its styled version (𝐀 instead of A).
  • Invalid characters — remove the rarest symbol; decorative marks from less common scripts are the usual cause.
  • Too long — count every symbol; drop a frame or shorten the word.
  • Blank name refused — you are probably using U+3164; switch to U+00A0.

Symbols to fix a taken name

Adding one short symbol is the quickest way past “name already taken”. Each of these is one or two characters, so it barely touches the 12-character limit.

Names that fit the limit

These short styles leave room under the 12-character limit. The in-game column says not tested yet until someone has entered the name in Free Fire on a phone. For bigger sets, see the boy name lists and the girl name lists.

FAQ

Is it free to change my Free Fire name?

Only with a Name Change Card from an event. Otherwise a rename costs 390 diamonds, or a card bought in the Guild store with tokens and a small diamond fee.

How do I change my name in Free Fire without diamonds?

Use a Name Change Card. Earn one from a limited-time event, or buy it in the Guild store, where guild tokens cover most of the price.

How many times can I change my Free Fire name?

As many times as you like, but every rename needs a new card or another diamond payment.

Does renaming change my Garena or Google account name?

No. The rename changes only your in-game nickname; the name on your linked Google, Facebook or VK account stays the same.

For new name ideas in any style, open the generator on FFNickname. FFNickname is an independent fan site and is not affiliated with Garena.
